Uff da!

This morning was quite a jump even with the four miles on my shoes from Monday, today's five miles were a task.  A happy one to complete, yes, but something that is a leap up from the two miles that I was running last week a few times to provide myself with a foundation for my 16 week training plan.

Five miles in 51:28.  That would be my personal best according to my iPod.  I am not completely confident in the calibration of my sensor though.  It might be off a tenth of a mile on this five mile run but it is close enough.

But back to that foundation.  If you want to build you need a solid beginning point.  I am not sure that I completely have that right now.  A few two mile runs in the last couple weeks is certainly enough.  Prior to that my running stopped at the beginning of November because of the tendinitis.  Can that running still provide me with the proper foundation to build up on?

The answer is probably not.  And with that I am taking a risk, one that I need to take to be successful.

Gah! I forgot to write!

I failed to write about my run on Monday and I apologize. It marked the beginning of my marathon training for the May 1st Wisconsin Marathon I have written about before.

I started a lengthy training program in October but that was soon followed by a car accident that exacerbated my tendinitis which required some time off. As a part time runner it required more than a more experienced runner would have needed. But I am here writing, running and training. That's what matters, right?

A good solid run for the first day of training.

Two miler

Second run of the New Year. Feels good to be back running and hopefully the injury will stay away. I went to a physical therapist and received some instructions on exercises I should do to strengthen my calf, ankles and specifically the tendon that had been giving me problems. Turned out I had posterior tibial tendinitis.

Since then I have six runs of 1.5 - 2 miles each pain free. I am going to continuing doing the exercises, ice massages and some proper stretching techniques. Fingers are crossed. I start my 16 week marathon training on Monday.

Unfortunately with a treadmill run I cannot show a map from Runkeeper (duh!) and the new Nike+ site does not allow you to share the graph on a website. Unless I am missing something.
