This was my first attempt at five miles in more than a few months. During a previous four mile run I felt that I could have kept going till five miles but I did not quite feel the same way when I reached the four mile point on this one.
Regardless of how I felt... I made it. And I did better than the chart above shows. According to the map from Runkeeper I completed 5.28 miles in 1:01:09 (time difference is from starting Nike+ up first and walking a little bit). This comes out to an average pace of 11:35 per mile.
Splits were:
Mile 1 - 11:20
Mile 2 - 12:18
Mile 3 - 12:29
Mile 4 - 11:41
Mile 5 - 10:28
The third mile was a little slow because E and I had to stop for two consecutive lights. I am satisfied with the time and performance but I know that I have a long way to go towards my goals.
In order to run the Wisconsin Marathon next May in my goal time I need to be averaging ten minute miles. So five times the length of this run and 20% faster. Ugh!
I guess that is why I still have seven months and twelves days left.
